The New Energy Crisis

The Fauquier Times and the Prince Williams Times came to us with a challenge. They needed to build a digital platform to centralize their coverage of Virginia's ongoing energy crisis, caused by the development of data centers in the state.

This hub needed to convey urgency to citizens, advocates, and policymakers alike. We orchestrated journalism, photography and video, messaging, and design to build a microsite for this project, dubbed The New Energy Crisis.

Since launch, the site has attracted over 29,000 unique visitors and 45,000 page views. The project was named a finalist for the 2026 Goldsmith Prize for Exploratory Reporting by the Harvard Shorenstein Center, as well as an A-Mark Foundation Award for Investigative Journalism.
